In the study on the
Bible Prophecy, Revelation and the Second
Coming of
Jesus Christ
it was established that His coming would not take place until the end
of the "Great Tribulation" period of 3 1/2 years. There are no
scriptures that indicate a rapture or
secret appearing of Jesus prior to the Second Coming, but there are
scriptures that indicate the Church will be protected during this
terrible time from the antichrist and mark that is coming.
The objective here is to examine what happens to the
church and Christians during this time and what God's plans are for the
ministry of this glorious church just prior to the great tribulation.

The "Great Tribulation" is the time which immediately
precedes the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ the second time. It
is the last three and a half years in the end of the present
age. It is the last half of Daniel's seventy week prophecy. (Daniel's 70 Week)
The tribulation period will be the darkest page in the history of the
world. All that has gone before, is as nothing to the horrors that
will be enacted under the reign of the blasphemies of the
antichrist. (W.H. Offiler)
The tribulation period is the period of time during the blowing of the
seventh trumpet judgment when the seven bowls of God's final judgment
and wrath are being poured out upon the earth. (See Revelation
16:2-17) Daniel speaks of this time as a time of trouble.
Daniel
12:1 "At that time Michael shall stand up, the great prince
who stands watch over the sons of your people; and there shall be a
time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation, even to
that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, every one
who is found written in the book.
Jesus also said, "There will be "Great Tribulation", such as has not
been since the beginning of the world." Matthew 24:21
At the beginning of this period a great separation takes place in the
church and those who made themselves ready were found worthy to escape
to the place of refuge and the others were left behind to die by the
sword of the antichrist or commit apostasy. This is the time known
as the "great falling away." 2 Thessalonians 2:3
Revelation
13:16-17 And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor,
free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their
foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark
or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
