Harp and Bowl Worship
Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer….For my house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations”
Isaiah 56:7

“Harp and Bowl” style worship as seen at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, MO.  It is the combination of worship and intercession flowing together at the same time and is built around the worship reality around God’s throne.

In Revelation 5:8, the elders came to Jesus with a “harp and a bowl”. The “harp” speaks of God’s music and worship songs and the “bowl” speaks of intercession or prayers of the saints. It is in this atmosphere of combined worship and intercession that we engage in what we refer to as “God centered” spiritual warfare and are able to come into agreement with God’s heart. As we worship we agree with who God is and as we lift our voices in intercession we agree with what God will do in our city.

House of Prayers that features Harp and Bowl Worship consists of various two-hour prayer meetings using the one basic model of “harp and bowl” worship with four different prayer formats or applications of this model used during the various prayer meetings. They include:

Intercessory Prayer Format:
an emphasis to pray for either a general breakthrough of revival or for specific needs of our city. We pray using the various apostolic prayers taken from the New Testament apostles.

Prophetic Worship Format: an emphasis to facilitate united group participation in worship so that we might receive the ministry of the Holy Spirit in specific ways. We use various scripture passages with an emphasis on worship and adoration.

Worship with the Word Format: designed to function as a discipleship environment that provides mentoring and training in the Word. The focus of this format is to sing and pray through entire passages of scripture to unlock and unveil God’s heart and desire.

Devotional Worship Prayer Format: designed to provide an anointed atmosphere for individuals to meditate on the Scriptures as they linger in God’s presence.

The desire in using the “Harp and Bowl” model is to worship in Spirit (prophetic & spontaneous) and truth (liturgy and structure). This model combines both.
