In-Sync With God's Purposes and Plans

Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O LORD, in the light of Your Countenance - Psalm 89:15

from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. Ephesians 4:16

There were many Biblical characters who often short circuited God's plans and purposes through their disobedience and others who were in-sync with what God wanted to do in their lives. Those who short circuited God's plans were self-centered while those who were in-sync were God centered.

With Adam and Eve there was a major short circuit in the plan God had for mankind. There was a cause and effect.

They were no longer in-sync with God and his purposes. God had to re-wire them. Thankfully, He re-wires us every time we have a short circuit.

What kind of effects are your short circuits causing? Think about it!

The essence of salvation is the denial of self, not an affirming of self.

We see this in the story of Joseph and Potiphar's wife. Potiphar's wife daily begged Joseph to come to bed with her. He told here he could not do such great wickedness and sin against God. When she tried to force him, he fled the room and went to prison rather than yield to temptation - Genesis 39.

Genesis 39:7-9 Now it came to pass after these things that his master's wife cast longing eyes on Joseph, and she said, "Lie with me." But he refused and said to his master's wife, "Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand. "There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?"

If we are to see God accomplish His purposes through us in the world today and bring forth the revival we all long for, then we must come to a denial of self just as Joseph did.

We must have a God-centered lifestyle that glorifies God and not self.

What would have happened to the purposes of God if Joseph would have given into his fleshly desires instead of looking to God and being in sync with what God desired to do?
