Jesus did not fall into the trap of feeling responsible for other people’s opinions or other people’s feelings. He did not fall into the trap of trying to justify Himself. Nor did he cave into and give up or protest or stomp out.
Why Do I Need To Overcome the Rejection Complex?
Matthew 13:20-21 NKJV "But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; {21} "yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.
- The Seed of God’s Word Will Not Take Root.
- We Will Eventually Stumble and Fall Away
How to Overcome the Rejection Complex
1. Know Who You Are and What You Have In Christ.
Jesus knew who He was and where He was going. The disciples did not know what Spirit they were of. They were totally unaware of who they were and what they had in Christ. They are ready to respond in anger by calling down fire from heaven. These disciples had a severe rejection complex
Who You are and What You Have In Christ:
- You are a child of God – one of His favorites – John 1:12
- You are seated in heavenly places with Christ – Ephesians 2:6
- You have inherited all things with Him – Ephesians 1:17-18
- You are more than a conqueror in Him – Romans 8:37
- You have the Holy Spirit of God with you – Acts 1:8
- You have the kingdom of God within you – Luke 17:21
- You have the mind of Christ – 1 Corinthians 2:16
- You are partakers of the divine nature – 2 Peter 1:4
- You always triumph in Christ – 2 Corinthians 2:14
This is the seed of God’s Word that He wants to get engrafted into our hearts that will replace the rejection complex. If you begin to believe and walk in all that you are in Christ, there is no room for the rejection complex.
How to Overcome the Rejection Complex:
2. Be Consumed With Your Destiny and Purpose in Life .
Jesus was totally consumed with His mission and purpose in life. His face was set as flint. Even though He knew He was headed into unpleasant waters He was firmly fixed on His mission in life. Because He was so consumed with His mission and purpose He was able to see this event through a different paradigm.
How many of us are truly consumed with God’s purpose being fulfilled in our lives? The word set means firmly fixed.
